Privacy statement

Who we are
Radio 1224 is a radio station that broadcasts on medium wave (1224 kHz AM) and online at radio1224.nl. In this privacy statement you can read which data we receive from you when you use the website, what we do with it and what rights you have.
Controller responsible for processing your data:

Questions about your data? Email us at info@radio1224.nl.
Listening to the stream
When you press play on the site or in the pop-out player, your device connects to our stream server (stream.radio1224.nl). That server receives your IP address for this; without it the music cannot reach you.
For our listening statistics we count how many people are listening at the same time.
In addition, our DJs can see on a map in the DJ panel roughly where people are listening right now (town and country), via which stream, on what kind of device and for how long. To do this, the website looks up the IP address with the location service ip-api.com. The DJs do not see your IP address and we do not store it: we only keep an anonymised version together with the town, for at most 7 days, so the same address does not have to be looked up again and again.
Requests
If you send in a request, we ask for your name, the song (artist and title) and how you are listening. Your town, phone number and a message are optional. Your request goes to the DJ who is live at that moment, so they can play it and mention your name.
We keep requests for a maximum of 1 day; after that they are deleted automatically.
Contact form
Through the contact form you send us your name, town, email address and your message. It arrives with us as an email so we can reply. We do not use it for anything else.
To stop spam, the form uses Google reCAPTCHA. Google receives, among other things, your IP address and information about your browser.
Ontvangstrapporten
Did you receive us and are you sending in a reception report? Then we ask for your name, town, country, the date and time and how the reception was. Your email address is optional.
Your name, town, country, date, time and reception report may appear on the Reception Reports page and on the globe on the homepage. We never publish your email address; we only use it to send you a thank-you email. Would you like your report removed from the site? Email us and we will take it down.
WhatsApp and social media
If you click a DJ's WhatsApp button, or a link to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, TuneIn or RadioNed, you leave our site. From then on, the privacy policy of that service applies. The episodes of An Hour With…, for example, are on SoundCloud.
The episodes on the An Hour With… page come from SoundCloud. The SoundCloud player only loads when you press play; SoundCloud then receives your IP address and may set cookies. The SoundCloud privacy policy applies to that.
Cookies and storage in your browser
We do not place advertising cookies and do not track you across other websites. We do not use Google Analytics or any other trackers.
We do keep simple visitor counts, without cookies: per day we count how many pages were viewed, by how many visitors, and via which website or search engine they came. For this we create a code from your IP address and browser that changes every day and that we do not store. This way we cannot identify you.
We do store a few small settings in your browser, so the site works the way you left it:
- your language choice (Dutch or English);
- the player settings, such as the volume and quality;
- that you have seen the cookie notice and whether you accepted or declined;
- if you accepted and your browser gave permission: your location, rounded to about one kilometre, so the weather on the homepage is for your town. That location only goes to our server to fetch the weather from OpenWeather; we keep the forecast for that spot for 15 minutes, not linked to you. If you decline, or do not give your browser permission, you will see the weather for De Bilt.
- for DJs and administrators: the login cookie of the DJ and Admin panel and the last selected tab.
You can always delete this data yourself in your browser settings.
Third-party services
- The site's font (Montserrat) is hosted on our own server. Your browser therefore does not need to connect to Google for it.
- OpenWeather: the weather on the homepage is fetched by our own server. None of your data is passed on.
- Het Radionieuws: our server fetches the news bulletins for the broadcast. No visitor data is passed on here either.
Security
The site uses a secure connection (https). Only our DJs and administrators can access the requests and submitted messages with their own login.
Your rights
You may always ask us which data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. To do so, email info@radio1224.nl; we will respond within a month.
Do you disagree with how we handle your data? Then you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Changes
If anything changes on the site or in what we do with data, we update this statement. At the top you can see when that last happened.
